The surface of the heating cable must not exceed the maximum temperature of the constructional materials or the Temperature Classification if installed in a hazardous area. This is ensured by limiting the pipe or workpiece temperature to a safe level either by design calculation or by means of temperatue control devices.
SnoMelt (SM) - Obselete

Product Features | | | | | | | | | | |

SnoMelt cables are industrial/commercial grade self-regulating heating cables that can be used for snow melting and ice prevention of surfaces such as concrete roads, ramps and paths. It may also be used on stairways, walkway gratings and loading docks. It can be cut-to-length at site to match exact piping lengths without any complicated design considerations. SnoMelt will not overheat or burnout, even when overlapped upon itself. It's power output self-regulates in response to the surface temperature. It's self-regulating characteristics improve safety and reliability. The installation of SnoMelt is quick and simple and requires no special skills or tools. Termination, splicing and power connection components are all provided in convenient kits. See Product, Application and Documentation Links below. SnoMelt Type SM-A is provided for small installations, and is ideally suited for patios, paths and driveways in domestic properties. SnoMelt Type SM-B is ideally suted to large scale installations and can be combined with our specially developed, highly energy effifcient SnoFlow control system which applies full power for snow melting and reduced power for ice prevention. A SnoMelt / SnoFlow controlled system can reduce operating costs by as much as 80% when compared with conventional controlled snow melting and ice prevention systems. | | SnoMelt (SM-A) SnoMelt (SM-B) |
